Pure Portfolios' 2021 Client Letter

2021 marks the five-year anniversary of Pure Portfolios (see The Story of Pure Portfolios). We are grateful for the client relationships we’ve built along the way and are humbled to be part of your financial journey.


Together, we’ve navigated a polarized political climate, trade wars, and a global pandemic. There is no playbook during such perilous times, but many of our partnerships have become stronger due to increased communication during lockdowns and stay at home orders.


On the business side, we were approached by Toby Weber, partner at Northwest Wealth Advisors. The values, alignment, and vision for wealth management was a synergy we could not ignore. In the spring 2021, the merger was completed. We are excited for the next chapter in our journey.


In the summer of 2021, we opened a new office in Lake Oswego to accommodate our growth and build our company culture.


We added teammates to strengthen our financial planning offering and client service resources.


We invested in cutting edge financial planning software and incorporated digital client paperwork to reduce the friction of snail mail. We launched an explainer video series and podcast to help people make better money decisions. Our goal is to produce educational tools around investor behavioral biases and human psychology.


We found solace in our ability to organically grow through digital marketing, referrals, and internet inquires. Prospective clients are finding us via Google search and social media. We spend almost zero time looking for new business (unlike most advisory firms). This leaves us more time to focus on what matters: portfolio management, financial planning, and client engagement.


It’s been a great journey over the past five years, and we continue to drive each day with purpose. Pure Portfolios will continue to improve and refine our client experience. Your feedback and input are valued and paramount to our mission.


For 2022, we are working on a prudent and responsible way to offer digital asset exposure for those who are interested (think Bitcoin & Ethereum).


We are exploring alternative solutions for investment income via private real estate investing.


As Pure Portfolios looks to the future, we have set a clear vision for our positioning. People want customized guidance and advice, and they don’t want to pay Wall Street fees.


We like to say, “More personalized advice than a robot. Lower fees than a traditional advisor.”
